How Does Invisalign Work?

The Invisalign treatment process typically lasts a few months to a year, depending on the case and patient compliance. Patients are encouraged to wear their aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day and switch to new ones every 1-2 weeks. Regular checkups allow our dental team to monitor the progress of the treatment and make sure it is on track as expected. Poor compliance, including forgetting to wear the aligners, and not brushing or flossing as recommended can significantly delay or affect your Invisalign results.

We recommend that adults and teenagers who are considering Invisalign consult with an experienced orthodontist for a thorough consultation and evaluation. Severe cases of misalignment may not be adequately treated with Invisalign, and alternative treatments, such as braces or jaw surgery, might be required.

Does Invisalign Work? Success Stories and Reviews

Does invisalign work by applying gentle pressure to the teeth over time, gradually shifting them into a more ideal position. Invisalign can also include attachments and precision wings to help the aligners grip a patient’s teeth more firmly, particularly for overlapping or crooked back teeth.

Unlike some mail-in aligners, Invisalign is a fully customized treatment. This means we will take a digital 3D scan of your mouth to create a precise model that allows us to examine your teeth, determine if Invisalign is right for you, and form a treatment plan. This is in addition to traditional diagnostic tools such as X-rays and photos. During your consultation, we might also perform preparatory work on your teeth, such as interproximal reduction, which is performed by sanding away some of the enamel between the teeth to make them more flexible for future movement.
